About Us

Our Story

The Ukraine Math and Science Achievement Fund supports talented Ukrainian students whose studies have been interrupted by the war.

Launched and funded by Citadel founder and CEO Ken Griffin, it builds on an earlier effort led by Dr. Ferenc Huszár, an associate professor of computer science at the University of Cambridge, Dr. Iryna Korshunova, a machine learning researcher, and a group of committed volunteers who have been providing the displaced Olympiad community from

Ukraine with financial support and educational resources since the war began in 2022.

After learning about this grassroots effort, Ken was inspired to amplify their work and further support top STEM students seeking to pursue their studies and maximize their potential.

In addition to assistance with the application process and undergraduate scholarships, we provide flexible funding that responds to students’ dynamic circumstances, as well as infrastructure gifts.

Such gifts include supporting student participation in Olympiads and other competitions, as well as providing tuition assistance and other funding to more than 50 Odessa Polytechnic University students whose parents are currently defending their country or have died in the war. We have also provided the university with funding to facilitate distance learning so that even the students who cannot make it to campus can continue their studies.
